He raised his bow and his shot landed but the horned devil still kept coming. A gazelle went mad and rushed towards Travis. He was about to start work on getting electricity set up when fate intervened. He planted the crops, got his shelter built with a comfy bed. I don’t think he was hungry a day he was there. Travis quickly made a bow and hunted hares for food. He did have one fatal flaw I wouldn’t realize till later. He was good with weapons, had high stats in construction and farming, had decent stats in all other categories, and he had no addictions or physical ailments. Travis had the best stats of any colonist I’ve had. I last saw her as a raider carried her off the map. Alas, the effort of chopping wood to refill the campfire and that cooler gave her heatstroke and she collapsed. We had passive coolers so I figured no problem. Buttercup wasn’t a good enough builder to construct an A/C unit or a generator. We had a farm up and running, plenty of food, a strong shelter built, and weapons to defend ourselves. Buttercup gunned down the attackers in three different raids. A megascarab was on her heels but she lost it. Luckily, when he died he dropped an autopistol at the edge of a corner in the cave. The we had a visitor who blindly went into a cave and was slaughtered by insects. Alas, there wasn’t any healroot on the map and the survivor died. A transport pod crashed nearby, giving us hope to grow our population. She got by on berries and monkeys that were killed by a cobra. Not our finest moment.īuttercup, ah I had hopes for her. One guy bled to death because of a revenge-seeking capybara. Usually a raid finishes the colony off but a few have been interesting. Every try has ended in early failure so far. It starts with a single naked colonist and no supplies. Really, the changes to animals were done to make slaves useful.Naked Brutality is rough. When the event triggers, hostile insects have a chance to spawn on a tile that is under a mountain. This event only happens with the Cassandra Classic or Randy Random storytellers (or is exceedingly rare on Phoebe Chillax).
#RIMWORLD MEGASCARAB PATCH#
And the fact that 1.3 is supposed to make animals more 'realistic' doesn't cut it, since the patch introduces magical tree creatures. To begin, let us look at Rimworld’s Megascarab Infestation event. So, cutting out a lot of the hauling and combat capabilities of animals doesn't make sense to me. I think that 3500 years in the future, animals would probably be either selectively bred or genetically engineered to be smart enough to do a lot of basic things, especially those specifically brought to Rimworlds as farm animals, beasts of burden, and so on. I'm kind of ambivalent to the changes, personally. There was a discussion a few days ago that covered something similar, namely animals that no longer nuzzle. I know it is a fictional world, but it obviously tries to orientate itself by real life. While I like the more realistic touch in 1.3, I think some animals feel "off", especially pigs and the hauling big cats and bears. One thing I noticed: No animal that needs to be in a pen is trainable in any way other than tameness. I wouldn't have thought rhinos to be smart or calm enough to be trained as guard animals.Pigs are smarter than dogs in RL, it feels weird that neither wild boars nor domesticated pigs are trainable in any way.It is not very realistic with any animal, but at least for some animals rather imaginable than with these) It feels weird on the other hand that bears and the big cats can haul and rescue, something very hard to imagine (in the sense that it would be hard to get an actual polar bear to haul something for you.Why can donkeys and horses neither guard nor haul? Hauling would make a lot of sense and donkeys are actually used for guarding in some cases (against predators e.g.).I have still a few criticisms, in my view some animals should be changed: It seems like more or less Tynan scaled the intelligence of the animal with what it can do, and additionally included its size (makes sense that a small monkey cannot rescue a colonist) The following animals can additionally haul and rescue The following animals can still guard and attack: I just started a game with every animal and checked.
